Enjoy Bethel? Check out our sister site in Merida, Mexico!!

The Studio at Casa Alux is a recently remodeled modern studio located in the Chem Bech area of beautiful colonial Merida. A beautiful airy studio featuring air conditioning and ceiling fans, it is in the 'centro' of the city and around 10 blocks from the main streets. Close enough to be convenient, while far enough to be away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas.

The area is safe for walking, and easily accessible by bus, taxi, or rental car for those who do not wish to walk, and we have easy parking outside the front door. Chem Bech market is within 2 blocks, and a number of bars and restaurants, including a branch of Merida's famous "Eladio's" are all within a short walking distance. The house itself is located on a quiet residential street, with no through traffic passing immediately outside.

No detail has been overlooked in making the studio the best and most comfortable that it can be. With many rental houses and apartments, you only receive the basics, however at the studio, you can expect plenty of little extras, for example sparkling china and glassware, a hairdryer, facial tissues, a selection of soaps, shampoos and other amenities, plus paper towels and napkins. Since you will have been traveling for some time when you arrive, the fridge will be on, ice is available, and your fridge stocked with a couple of beers, soft drinks, juice, fresh limes, and milk. Coffee and sugar are provided as well. For rentals of more than a week, weekly cleaning and towel change is included. The Studio is not a 5 star hotel, however it does aim to provide 5 star touches. These are the extras that you don't find everywhere... truly the 'Details that make the difference'!

The studio is located on the 2nd floor (1st floor for British guests!) of a recently remodeled house located on the east side of the central area of beautiful colonial Merida.

Access is via an external staircase, providing a fully private entrance and privacy within the studio. Due to the staircase, the studio is not suitable for wheelchair users.

All soft furnishings, linen, towels, china, glassware, etc are new.

Merida itself is full of museums, cultural attractions, culinary distractions and shopping, and the surrounding area provides easy access to beaches, Mayan ruins (including world famous Uxmal), cenotes, caves, Mayan villages, and many other attractions.

What is an Alux? An Alux is the name given to a type of spirit in the mythological tradition of the Maya peoples from the Yucatan. An Alux is conceived of as being small, only about knee-high, and in appearance resembling miniature traditionally dressed Maya people. Tradition holds that they are generally invisible. They are generally associated with natural features such as forests, caves, stones, and fields but can also be enticed to move somewhere through offerings.
