It's not just skiing and Golf ...

In addition to the world class skiing and golf, there is so much more to do in Bethel and the surrounding areas.  Below, we have listed lots of other activities in the area, together with their web links which will give you further information.

Shopping

In addition to the lovely little shops dotted in and around Bethel, the TAX FREE state of New Hampshire is just a short drive away.  We would recommend a visit to the outlets at North Conway (just under an hour away) where all the major chains are represented.  Click Here for further details.

If you are arriving from the Boston area, then we would recommend visits to the coastal towns of Kittery and Freeport, where there are also large numbers of outlet stores.

There is a small supermarket on the Main Street in Bethel, although if you arrive from Boston you will pass a Walmart store in Oxford (about 20 miles from Bethel).  There is another Walmart Supercentre in Gorham which is also about 20 miles from Bethel in the other direction.

Snowmobiling

The Interstate Trail System (ITS) Trail System goes right through Bethel.  Maine in the winter is an explorer's paradise giving you endless miles of beautiful riding and scenery including the White Mt. National Forest and State Parks.  Riding is allowed on designated and groomed trails only, and trails are open to non-motorized uses also. The system is a mixture of small woodsy trails and more open scenic routes.

Parking areas with trail access to the White Mountain National Forest are located south of Bethel near Route 5 and near the state line on Route 2. Call the Evans Notch Visitor Center at 207-824-2134 (207-824-2856) for trail locations, and the State of Maine's hotline for the latest trail conditions at 1-800-880-SNOW.
